Stringed instruments produce sound from vibrating strings when someone plays the strings either by picking, plucking, using a bow, or another form of playing. The sound is usually produced because the body of the instrument has some kind of hollow enclosed area where the vibrations from the strings can be transmitted. When someone plays the body of the instrument vibrates with the air inside the enclosed area.

It can be used in many different styles of music and a drum, which is a percussion instrument, can even in be used in marching bands. Some other common percussion instruments are bongo drums, tamborines, cymbals, and chimes.
